Join us to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month by attending the 6th Annual American Indian Domestic Violence Awareness Day of Unity in Shawnee, OK.

*This event is FREE and open to the public!*

This event is sponsored by the Native Alliance Against Violence and hosted by the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe’s Domestic Violence and Family Services Program in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and Oklahoma's tribal domestic violence and sexual assault programs are encouraging everyone to understand that our collective efforts can play a role in ending domestic violence.

Tecumseh, a Shawnee leader, recognized the power of community. He said, “A single twig breaks, but the bundle of twigs is strong.”

This year’s keynote speaker is Lisa Brunner (White Earth Ojibwe) and she will speak about “Braiding Global Strengths for Change and the Interconnected Issues of Violence and Trauma.”
